A house-cleaning price is useful only when you know what it covers. This guide explains Dustate’s residential starting prices and helps Canberra households describe the size, condition and tasks behind a written quote.
Residential starting prices
| Home size | Starting price |
|---|---|
| Studio or one bedroom | $135 |
| Two bedrooms | $150 |
| Three bedrooms | $195 |
| Four bedrooms | $217 |
| Five bedrooms | $278 |
| Six bedrooms | $300 |
Prices are in AUD. The residential base includes one bathroom and one toilet; additional wet areas, rooms and extra tasks can change the total. Dustate confirms the agreed work in a fixed, GST-inclusive written quote before booking. The table is not a market-average estimate or a promise that all homes with the same bedroom count cost the same.
Describe the home as it will be cleaned
Give the bedroom, bathroom and separate-toilet count, then mention additional living rooms, stairs and areas outside the ordinary floor plan. Explain whether the home is occupied, partly packed or vacant. A large furnished study still takes space in the scope even if it is not called a bedroom.
Condition matters too. State whether you need routine upkeep or a first visit after a long gap. Photos of kitchens, bathrooms and representative floors help establish the task. You do not need to tidy the home into an unrealistic condition just to ask for a quote.
Separate routine work from detailed extras
A general residential scope commonly centres on kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, accessible dusting and floors. Ask for the agreed room and task list rather than assuming that every appliance interior, window and cupboard is included.
| Task to discuss | Information that helps |
|---|---|
| Routine rooms | Size, furnishing and current condition |
| Extra bathrooms or toilets | Number and level of buildup |
| Appliance interiors | Which appliance and condition photos |
| Windows or tracks | Quantity, components and access |
| Carpet or upholstery extraction | Rooms or items and any stains |
Dustate’s house-cleaning service can provide the written scope. If you want a broader reset, discuss deep cleaning as a different task list rather than adding “deep” to a routine booking without changing the detail.
Frequency is a scope decision too
A weekly, fortnightly or one-off visit should reflect the household’s priorities and how quickly work builds up. More frequent visits do not automatically mean a published discount, and a first visit may need different work from later maintenance visits.
Ask whether the initial clean and the ongoing schedule are quoted separately. Record the tasks that repeat each visit and any periodic extras you would like reviewed later. This is more useful than expecting a cleaner to fit every possible task into the same routine booking.
Access and travel need confirmation
Tell Dustate about parking, stairs, gates, pets and areas that must remain private. Mention any product concerns and delicate surfaces before work starts. Share the address so any travel charge can be identified in the quote; do not assume every location has the same access conditions.
For an occasional window clean, the window guide explains how to specify it separately. Keeping that work clear helps you compare a regular house-cleaning price with a more detailed combined visit.
Compare written quotes fairly
- Check the same rooms and wet areas are counted.
- Compare the included tasks and any exclusions.
- Identify first-visit work separately from an ongoing schedule.
- Ask for extras, access and travel to be addressed before booking.
- Confirm how changes to rooms or tasks will be approved.
If you are choosing the type of visit, compare regular, deep and spring cleaning. Once the booking is agreed, use the first-visit preparation checklist for access, pets and priorities.
Request a household-specific quote
Send Dustate your room count, priority tasks, desired frequency and condition photos. Review the written scope and total before arranging the first visit.

FAQs
Is a three-bedroom home always $195?
No. $195 is the starting figure. Bathrooms, condition, extra spaces and requested work affect the final written quote.
Will a regular cleaner do the oven and windows every visit?
Only if those tasks are expressly included. Ask for detailed or periodic extras to be listed, rather than assuming they belong in routine upkeep.
